Florentia Village Shopping Mall
Florentia Village – Luxury Designer Outlet is China’s first authentic Italian luxury outlet, inspired by the architecture of ancient Rome and the Renaissance. It brings the charm of Italian plazas, galleys, fountains, and monumental buildings to life.
I was tasked with reimagining the signage system to blend seamlessly with the historical Italian theme. My role involved designing the Wayfinding system and Circulation plan for Florentia Village in Wuhan, China. Drawing inspiration from flags and banners, which are iconic symbols throughout history, I incorporated flagpole shapes and vintage banner details into the overall concept.
Reflections
This project was one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences due to its large scale. Designing a wayfinding system for such a vast shopping mall, with numerous signages, was a new challenge. Navigating factors like camera placements, architectural pillars, and ceiling heights to ensure visibility was an invaluable learning process.
As the sole designer, working alongside three engineers and product designers, we formed a small but effective team for this massive project. Despite the challenges, we delivered results that met expectations and left a lasting impact.
